Destination by Ahmed Ashour
The bags are packed. The tent remains.
Destination is a digital artwork by Ahmed Ashour that places a single tent at the center of a world made of words. Around it, in both English and Arabic, fragments of thought and experience drift across the surface of the image like smoke, like memory, like things that cannot be unsaid.
"A cloud tears through the soft blue of the sky."
"The story of the one who escaped death is still unfinished."
"Maybe not next time."
Three bags sit at the entrance to the tent. They are ready. But the destination is not named. It may not exist yet. Or it may be a place that can only be reached by those who have already lost everything else.
This piece is both image and text, both drawing and poem. It refuses to separate the visual from the verbal, the seen from the spoken. Because in the experience of displacement, nothing exists in isolation. Every object carries a story. Every word carries a weight.
Created from direct experience of war and forced movement, this work is an act of witness and of art simultaneously.
