Last Look at the Sky is a digital artwork depicting a figure bound to a cross, her body bent under an impossible weight, yet her gaze still turned upward. Not in surrender. In something harder to name.
The cross she carries is not a symbol of faith alone. It is the weight of everything that has been placed on a person without their choosing. The ropes that bind her are not metaphor. They are the visible reality of those who are held in place by forces they did not create.
And yet she looks up.
This piece was created in the context of war and displacement. It speaks of those who carry burdens that were never theirs to carry, who continue to move forward even when movement itself has become an act of resistance.
The sky in this work is not shown. But the direction of her gaze tells us everything.
